New Moon

The new moon looks down
On my cottage tonight.
Quiet, motionless lonliness
Is portrayed in it's light.

Oh, wandering new moon,
How can you know
What lonliness is concealed
By those blinds pulled so low?

Pale rays of light filter out,
But the house is still.
The radio plays softly
As I dial it at will.

And in a distant city
I know you're lonely, too.
Do you gaze at the new moon,
And know I'm thinking of you?
